Do you need to inspect pipeline sections that can not be pigged or hydrotested or do you have piping that is inaccessible, elevated or insulated needing inspection?
Do you know that technology exists to cost effectively accomplish this?
Long Range Guided Wave Ultrasonic (LRGWU) technology has been used for years in the process industries to inspect small diameter unpiggable pipe for defects and metal loss. The technology was further funded by the Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. (PRCI) for application on large diameter transmission pipelines.
LRGWU is fast becoming the preferred technology for inspection of:
- Non-piggable pipelines as part of the External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) methodology and industry standard (can be used for ICDA also),
- Cased road and railway crossings,
- River or bridged pipeline crossings,
- Above ground and/or buried product and gathering system flowlines,
- Pipe penetrations of tank dikes or berms within tank farms,
- Non-piggable pipeline sections within compressor or pump stations,
- Process plant piping, i.e. corrosion under insulation,
- PMI Programs
Class lecture regarding GUL, Teletest and MsS (Magnetostrictive) , offering participants an objective comparison of all three technologies. Participating local laboratories have agreed to demo their equipment when available.
If you are interested to learn more about this technology, its limitations, benefits, costs, how to understand the results and supervise technicians performing this work you will be interested in our 2 day “Understanding Long Range Guided Wave Ultrasonic” training course.
